Following our collaborative group exchange session, we launched a new initiative: the ConnectUs Youth Career Exchange Podcast.
This podcast stands apart from a typical Q&A or presentation-style format. Instead of a conventional one-way conversation, it incorporates a dynamic “exchange” component, which creates an interactive space where multiple students actively engage by asking questions throughout the session, and contributing to the discussion. This structure transforms the podcast from a passive listening experience into a collaborative dialogue.

In our first episode, we welcomed two special guests, Antonio and Kaixi, who shared their journeys of transitioning from schools in Mexico and China to new academic environments in Switzerland and the United States. They reflected on how these cross-cultural experiences shaped their perspectives and ultimately led them to pursue a passion for business.

Jude Landen, a U.S. student with a strong interest in business, has been studying Chinese for over four years. This experience sparked his curiosity about studying abroad in China and collaborating with peers across East Asia. By asking thoughtful questions about academic life in China and career pathways in the field, he gained meaningful insights that deepened his understanding of and commitment to his passion for business.

Kaixi, who met Antonio while participating in Duke University’s China study abroad program and is now his girlfriend, reflected on the differences between studying in a Chinese school system and transitioning to a Western-style academic environment. She spoke about the various branches within business, including hospitality, her major, and outlined the diverse career pathways a business degree can open. She also shared observations on cultural differences between Chinese and Western students, particularly in classrooms and communication styles and also career planning.

Lucas from Spain and Woosung from Korea also actively participated in the exchange, leading the session by asking insightful questions related to studying abroad and adapting to a new environment.
Overall, this first collaborative Youth career Exchange Podcast were successful, providing a great opportunity to gain insights on studying in different countries and career pathways in the field of business
Thank you to everyone who participated and we hope to see you on our next session!
